Welcome

Anita Undhjem Baksetersveen and Enga`s Blue Label.

Hi, welcome to Kennel Enga`s home page.
My name is Anita Undhjem Baksetersveen. I live in Norway, close to Lillehammer. About one and a half hours from Gardermoen airport.
I was born in 1967, I’m married and have 3 children. My background started as a trained chef and waiter, in the later years I have run a pub, and also a pet food shop. I grew up with a father who had many sled dogs, which he used in first aid to find and rescue people. so started with rescue dogs and abused dogs, along with my father, and a home caretaker for some dog rescue services. After a few years I stopped with the rescue dogs, because at that time I wanted a breed I had wanted for a long time, namely the Silky Terrier.

It wasn’t so easy to find Silky Terrier in Norway. But I got lucky and found an ad in the newspaper with a free puppy, so then my life started with the Australian Silky Terrier in 1996. My first bitch was named Dali's Terra Vecchia and the seller was Ine Meidell. She is also today my best friend.
I registered my kennel «Enga» in 1999, to have my first litter the same year. So here started my breeding on silky. I kept 2 puppies from the first litter, Enga's Ronja and Enga’s Shadow. I mated ronja 2 times the following years. And it was Shadow who traveled everywhere with me, at home and to exhibitions. He won many titles, became the father of several, and was my faithful friend for 13 years.

Since then I have had different bitches that I have put on shows around the world. And I have traveled in the beginning with Ine Meidell, Marianne Blomquist, and met a lot of different other breeders.
When Shadow was gone, it did not take long before Kompis was born, and took my heart by storm. He was a real rascal as a puppy, but only kind and good. He has a wonderful temperament, and we love him so much.
Then eventually I chose to import a bitch from the USA. And so this is how our adventure and collaboration with Barbera Beissel and Mark Benson began.
For the first time in my life, I was importing a new dog from another country. And after I picked her up in Florida. I let kompis travel on loan to Barb and Mark in the USA. for me it was a bit frightening , but everything went great.
This might be because they wanted new blood and a nice kind male. I would not have dreamed that he would take the United States by storm, but the journey has been fantastic, and Barb and Mark have been great with Kompis all the way.
And now opened the doors for new things. That he today has many fantastic puppies after him, is also fun for us who live in the small countryside in Norway.
At this time I currently have only 3 dogs living at home, but have some who also live with friends. I travel a bit around for exhibitions, but also have to prioritize my daughter who is 12,5 years, and is now a competition dancer. So days and weekends go by fast here.

But when i Travel to dog shows now, i most often travel with Vibeke Letnes, Vilde Letnes, Ine Meidell, June E. Meidell ,Lill Karin Wærdahl og Astrid Iren Halset, But we always meet some other friends and breeders at the dog shows, so we all talk together and go out to eat after if we have time. And this is what I love about the Silky terrier breeders.
I have now tried to post a part of my history here, to hope that you who read it also like it. Feel free to get in touch if there is something you are wondering about, and I will answer to the best of my ability.
